Steampunk to Comic Con

Image
Another  Artist Alley, this time at Salt City Streamfest Dale made me some custom displays from a design I gave him. He is such a sweetie! It is another truly interesting costume affair, the people walking around are more dressed up than the sellers! There was also some great entertainment is the artist alley area. This group preformed both day and they were very good. Some of the costumes were really quite amazing! Now I am getting ready for my dealer table at SLC Comic Con on Sept 4-6 I can't wait to see the costumes there!

Wrapping up Anime Expo 2014

Image
Well the expo is over and I am all safe and sound back home. This has taken me an extra day to post as It was to late when we hit Vegas last night and we all just wanted to finish our drive this morning. I am back and doing mundane things like unpacking and laundry tonight. Tomorrow I will be planning the shows and things for the rest of the year, as well as sorting through what product I brought back from the expo and planning my next creative project. Many new friends and ( some from the last couple of years) stopped by to say goodbye as the artist alley wound down yesterday. This one's costume I did not envy as I am sure they were dying of heat! This person's fun meter seems to have been exhausted These guys I say on my way back to the hotel after I had packed my table up. I had a great time this year at the expo and was a little sorry to see it end, even though I was very tired. I really enjoyed seeing and talking to the attendees. I want to send out a

Anime Update, day 3

Image
Well day three is over and done for me. I am back in my hotel room and relaxing. The others are out and still doing some things, but I am ready to have a quiet evening in the hotel room. The show has been pretty steady each day for me and I will be very interested to see how tomorrow (which is the last day) goes. I had several people look for me and come back to buy jewelry so that was very fun and I am excited to see them next year, I did get a picture of me at my table this morning. Some of the effort put into costumes and props is very intense. I have to admire the work involved. I am thinking of doing some type of costumes next year. I guess we will just have to see how the time goes. One of my favorite things is talking to the wonderful people who stop and are visiting with me. Thanks everyone who stops and talks. You are awesome! The last three hours of my time at the convention today was spent waiting in line to register for my space next year. Wish I woul

Anime Expo Day Two

Image
Well, Day Two has finished in the Artist Alley. It was a little slow starting in the morning, but by the end of the day I was at about the same total as yesterday. Almost have paid for my booth. I am enjoying the artist alley and the people around my area. Most of the people are very nice and willing to visit. This makes it very fun. The next couple of photo's are of some of the costumes I say as I was leaving the convention tonight. They were filming some of the best costumes for commercials I guess. It was just fun to see. I am plaaning on coming back next year again. We

Anime Expo Day 1

Image
It has began.  It was great to have a lot of help to get the things over to the convention center. Erik and I set up the table while Matt, Kiaya, and Scott scout out the exhibit hall. We had three hour to set up and made it in plenty of time. I am trying something a little different this time in that I have only jewelry. I am seeing if having the table with only jewelry would pay for the cost of product,  admission for us all and cost of the table rental. We will work on profit another time. The first day was busier than I expected, so I am hopefully optimistic  that this will be good.   The display when I had it set up This is a shot of the slow time from behind my table. Erik was right next table and he was getting attention for both his card decks and the bottle cap pin sets he made (as well as this art) Have had a fun time this first day, if today goes as well, I may sign up for a table next year also.

Fruity Flower Bundle and Chocolate Berries

Image
I will probable we doing some more blogs dealing with my food and kitchen alchemy. Yesterday was the day I created a flower bouquet and take it into my accountants office. It all started about 4 years ago. It seems in the spring I will end up making a lot of things to eat. I do it in the fall also, but we have several parties in the fall and I usually don't have to worry about what to do with all the food I make. Now in spring, if I am in town,  once or twice a week during high tax season ( feb to April 15) I bring a treat into my accountants office. They are a very appreciative group so my ego gets lots of strokes. This year I have brought chocolate covered strawberries, a candy and cookie plate (for Valentines), and then this fruit creation. This was the chocolate covered berries This was this years flower bouquet. It takes a couple of hours to prepare and assemble, but they look good. These are the hardest of all the things I make to transport. Every year  I wo

Stitching

I have decided to do a quilt for Alicia's baby Ella. It has been 20+ years since I have done a baby quilt, I think As I started with five squares of muslin This is the first design a little giraffe I then proceeded to hand embroider it then the second was a little elephant Babs did give me a little help here and there. that was about all I had gotten done before we headed on our trip to Hawaii I then worked on the horse and turtle. When in Hawaii I decided to add a sixth one so I could do the quilt in the colors of the rainbow. I picked up some fun fabrics at a shop on maui.  And added the Dolphin to the designs.  I ended up finishing the hand embroidery  while watching Nick and Aryn while their parents took a quick Disneyland trip. Next will be cutting and sewing the top of the quilt.1
