Creativity

Image
Looking through some pictures, I have found ton's of fun photo of my families creativity. Here is just a sample of a few. I will be doing more of each area in up coming months. This is the first piece of our Hawaiian quilting class that I and "Babs" did This is just one of the wonderful woodworking projects my talented Husband has done These are two of the custom flow boards Erik has done Ella's baby quilt that I finished for her just before her first birthday A set of Valentine card I and my grand daughter made Food art is always a favorite. Each year I have taken something to my accountants, sort of a thank you for sorting out the tax mess we have. And I never have to worry what I will do with food crafts once they are done This was Aryn showing off "ones" we painted for her cousins one afternoon Some resin cast I did for a set of jewelry  Costumes we made for the Masked Ball last Halloween. Most were sew...

stitching

I am working on a couple of needlepoints projects The one I am going to mention today is Hawaiian style quilting. Love the fabrics  Babs and I went to a class a week ago yesterday First you cut and pin the pattern on the base square Then you baste the upper pattern piece to the base piece Then you use a small (1/8) inch hand stitch to appliqué  the pattern to the base fabric and hopefully you have gotten the fabric turned under so it will not ravel.  after a week of working on it fairly often I have finished getting the top patterned piece appliquéd on to the yellow. Next I must decide if it will be a pillow or just a wall hanging type of thing. I still have to take the basting out and then do the quilting. I have decided to wait until I get home to quilt it. I am not sure if I will use a large hoop or do it totally free hand like the original Hawaiian ones were done. I will keep people informed as I work on it.  I am still  w...

Animals New Clothes

Image
This trip has gotten the animals some new Hawaiian style clothes. Babs is modeling her new dresses. She wants you to notice her pretty flower we put on it. And her two piece swimwear under it Wim has his new swim suit with a green vest He loves his colorful back to his vest Tip went with the hip look of swimsuit, vest and head band he too choose to have a colorful back on his vest Hip being a Hawaiian native, went with a totally colored vest and orange swim trunks his whole belief is Life Is Good. I want to adopt that belief as my life is good in so many ways And being Hawaiian, he choose a surfer dude for the back of his vest. As I do not have my sewing machine here and we decided that we did not want to spend too much money of relaxing wear, we went and found two t-shirts that were only $2.99 each and used those and a  $1 set of mini threads and needles. so their total cost for their new clothes was $7 plus some tax. We all think we...

Winding Up WRIR2016

Image
In Most respects I would judge WRIR 2016 a success. Yes we were a small intimate group, but for the first year that was wonderful. We had a real chance to get to know each other and had a lot of fun. I have  gotten a lot of ideas and know a few things that I would do differently if we hold one in 2017. I still have to get a survey out, but I am waiting on that as I recover from an illness I picked up while in Florida. The time we were all able to spend together was fantastic and I have several new writers to read and I hope that I can count as friends. I want to give a thanks to Holly, Julie, Karl, Randy, Mandy and Linda for their help. Also to Naralle for all she did. I count the weekend as a success. One thing I would differently change is the hotel we were at. The location I loved just a short walk from Disney Springs and I was impressed with the politeness and helpfulness of the front desk. The event staff that served the actual event were also great. The food wa...

Ahhh, I know I said I would blog more, but I failed these last couple of months. I am back now and going to share last weekends event with you all. I arrived, after a redeye flight, at 6:30am on Wednesday January 13th to the Holiday Inn at Disney Springs. Note to self, I do not sleep on planes, no more redeye flights, if possible. I arrived at the hotel and took a walk through downtown disney to start putting the Friday night scavenger hunt clues together. After a couple of airport runs and meetings with hotel staff; several of the authors, S.E.Smith and I had a late dinner. Then next morning several of us had breakfast together after I got back from an early airport run. Worked on things for the weekend and several of us took a late lunch at the Rainforest. We ended the day with an dinner Thursday, Jan 14th for the authors that had arrived  Friday had lunch with some of the authors and a few of my family who came to see me and a couple who came to help. That evening we ...
